As a newly-elected YOFC AST chairman, Mr. Zhuang made an important speech at the meeting and put forward his requirements in two aspects: first, we should pay more visits to and seek for better experience from the associations for science and technology on municipal and district levels; second, we should do something important centring on the company's development strategy in the future.

On June 7, the inaugurating meeting for Association for Science and Technology (hereinafter referred to as "YOFC AST") of Yangtze Optical Fibre and Cable Joint Stock Limited Company (stock code: 6869.HK, hereinafter referred to as "YOFC") was held. Member of the CPC Leadership Group and Vice Chairman of Wuhan Municipal Association for Science and Technology Chen Guangyong, Director-general of Science and Technology Innovation Bureau of Donghu New Technology Development Zone Li Shiting, Director of Enterprise and Institution Department of Wuhan Municipal Association for Science and Technology Song Weihua, YOFC Executive Director & President Zhuang Dan, Vice President Yan Changkun,Technical Director Luo Jie, General Manager of R&D Centre etc. attended the meeting.

At the meeting, YOFC Executive Director & President Zhuang Dan made a speech, noting that sci-tech R&D personnel and hi-tech talents are a valuable resource and important employee group. The establishment of YOFC AST is a great event of the company in the course of innovation-driven development, which  is of great importance for strengthening the corporate culture construction and speeding up the improvement of corporate technological innovation capacity. Song Weihua, Director of Enterprise and Institution Department of Wuhan Municipal Association for Science and Technology read out the approval document on YOFC's establishment of association for science and technology. The meeting adopted theArticles of Association for Association for Science and Technology of Yangtze Optical Fibre and Cable Joint Stock Limited Company, selected and constituted the first leading organ of YOFC AST Committee with YOFC Executive Director & President Zhuang Dan as its chairman.

Member of the CPC Leadership Group and Vice Chairman of Wuhan Municipal Association for Science and Technology Chen Guangyong fully acclaimed the major achievements and leading position of YOFC in global optical fibre and cable industry, made three valuable suggestion to YOFC AST that YOFC AST should give priority toacademic exchange and scientific popularization, achieveinter-discipline and innovative development and turn the association into a genuine "home of scientific and technological workers"; earnestly serve the central task of YOFC, deal with innovation-driven development properly, give full play to the enthusiasm of YOFC's core scientific and technological talents and incorporate the establishment of academician workstation into the agenda; hoping that the scientific and technological workers of YOFC ASTshould unite, strive, be pioneering and innovative, bring the sci-tech advantages into full play and offer service for the scientific andtechnological development of Wuhan Municipality and Hubei Province.

Director-general of Science and Technology Innovation Bureau of Donghu New Technology Development Zone Li Shiting congratulated YOFC's establishment of corporate association for science and technology and wished YOFC AST to get the work of AST well done in line with the articles of association under the guidance of provincial and municipal associations for science and technology. Meanwhile, Mr. Li stressed that popularization of science was a thing of lifetime, so YOFC AST should pass on the scientific and technological innovation culture properly, strive to develop it into an outstanding and exemplary association of the development zone and Wuhan Municipal Association for Science and Technology. The development zone would provide necessary support in logistic support and talent service, assist and drive YOFC's scientific research level to a new height.
