YOFC State Key Laboratory of Optical Fibre and Cable Manufacturing Technology Cooperated for grand ACP2016 and its research achievements lead global peers.

On November 2-5, 2016, Asia Communications and Photonics Conference, ACP 2016 was concurrently opened in Wuhan Shangri-La Hotel and Hilton Optics Valley grandly. ACP is the largest conference of optical communications, photonics, optical sensing and related optoelectronic technology in Asia-Pacific region and one of the Top3 optical communications conferences in the world. The conference totally attracted first-class experts and scholars, college graduates, engineering and technical personnel, outstanding entrepreneurs, investors and professional journal editors and corporate R & D personnel from more than 20 countries and regions, including China, America, Canada, Britain, France, Germany, Switzerland, Sweden, Australia, Singapore, South Korea, Japan, etc., of more than 1,000 participants.

 

This conference was undertaken by Wuhan National Laboratory for Optoelectronics and supported by YOFC State Key Laboratory of Optical Fibre and Cable Manufacturing Technology (“YOFC” State Key Laboratory), etc., with vice president of Huazhong University of Science and Technology and executive vice director of Wuhan National Laboratory for Optoelectronics, professor Luo Qingming, et al as chairmen, dean of School of Optical and Electronic Information HUST, professor Zhang Xinliang, YOFC technical director and director of State Key Laboratory professor Luo Jie, et al as technical chairmen. Winner of Nobel Prize in Physics and 12th minister of United States Department of Energy professor Steven Chu was invited to give a keynote speech and YOFC vice president Mr. Zhang Mu was invited to give a speech on behalf of the company; the conference also invited OSA chairman, academician of National Academy of Engineering and foreign academician of Royal Academy of Engineering professor Alan E. Willner, vice president of University of Glasgow, academician of the Royal Society, academician of the Royal Society of Edinburgh professor Miles Padgett, vice president and professor of University of Bath Jonathan Knight and other world’s famous scholars.

 

On November 2, in the sub-venue Hilton Optics Valley, YOFC State Key Laboratory of Optical Fibre and Cable Manufacturing Technology held an international academic seminar “Applications of New Optical Fibers in Communication and Sensing” of YOFC topic at the conference. The conference invited eight experts and scholars from China Telecom, China Unicom, CAICT, United States Bell Laboratories, South Korea, Singapore, the Hong Kong Polytechnic University and Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications to give a research report or analysis research report of advanced technologies of new and special fibers in quantum communication, long-distance or short-distance high-speed transmission system, space division multiplex, modular multiplex, optical fibre sensing and other fields. Technical director of ACP2016 professor Luo Jie was invited to give an opening address; co-chairman of the conference, professor Perry Shum of Nanyang Technological University, Singapore and executive vice director of YOFC State Key Laboratory doctor Xiong Liangming co-presided over the academic seminar. The conference is the only Workshop organized by global optical fibre and cable enterprises at ACP2016.

At this ACP conference, only five papers from global Top10 optical fibre and cable enterprises passed appraisal and were accepted, four of which were from YOFC, including two PDP (Post- Deadline Papers), totally there were only 11 PDP papers at the conference. This fully indicates that YOFC is one of the most active enterprises of technology innovation in global optical fibre and cable industry now and its research achievements lead global peers. Papers on the conference are all published by OSA online and collected by EI.

 

At parallel exhibition of ACP2016, YOFC showed itself at the main venue of ACP2016, 2F Hall of Wuhan Shangri-La Hotel with full series of special fibers, including panda polarization-maintaining fibre, rare-earth doped fibre, energy-transfer jumper, bent insensitive single-mode fibre, multi-core / less-mode fibre and coupler, DCF, coupling fibre for devices, refractory radiation-resistant fibre, photonic crystal fibre, ETFE loose-tube fibre, UV optical fibre and special wavelength optical fibre, special tubes, consumables and other products. At this exhibition, YOFC also showed its latest multi-core optical fibre and multi-core optical fibre communications/sensing application system and solutions to special optical fibre products of optical fibre laser. All participants came to YOFC stand for visit and negotiation one after another, showing exploding interest in YOFC products and effectively establishing a good cooperative intention.

 

Via State Key Laboratory of Optical Fibre and Cable Manufacturing Technology, YOFC has successfully organized ACP, the top academic conference of optical fibre communication and photoelectron in Asia and even the world with other partners for many times. Through overall cooperation practice with Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology and other domestic and foreign universities, it deepens its understanding and cooperation with State (Key) Laboratory and greatly promotes technical collaborative innovation. Success of the global top academic conference shows the capacity of YOFC and YOFC State Key Laboratory to organize academic activities and their innovation capacity from conference organization and coordination, linkage of main venue and sub-venue of large conference activities, international academic seminar for special topics, publication and reporting of innovative achievements and product exhibition, etc. in an all-around manner, greatly improving the academic influence of Chinese optical fibre and cable enterprises in global optical fibre communication and photoelectron field.
