The 2026 European Conference on Optical Communication (ECOC) was recently held held in Spain, where Yangtze Optical Fibre and Cable Joint Stock Limited Company (YOFC, stock codes: 601869.SH and 06869.HK) made a notable appearance. Focusing on frontier areas such as hollow-core fibre and multi-core fibre, YOFC showcased its latest technological advances and systematic solutions, engaging in in-depth discussions with global customers, partners, and professional visitors on the evolution of optical communication infrastructure in the AI era.

At the YOFC booth, hollow-core fibre OTDR testing and gas absorption peak testing drew particular attention. The live demonstrations vividly presented the key capabilities of hollow-core fibre in testing, characterization, and engineering applications, charting a practical path for bringing frontier technology out of the laboratory and into tangible, verifiable, and deployable reality. The multi-core fibre high-density, low-power AI data center (AIDC) interconnect solution targets the needs of AI data centers for ultra-large bandwidth, high-density access, and lower energy consumption, offering a more competitive choice for intra-data-center and campus interconnection in the next generation of facilities. The on-site display attracted numerous customers and professional visitors for in-depth exchanges.

Several YOFC technical experts attended conference workshops and delivered invited presentations, systematically introducing YOFC's full range of hollow-core fibre solutions for three scenarios: scale-out, scale-across, and long-haul transmission—together with frontier topics such as the design, fabrication, and testing of O-band hollow-core fibres with high mode purity and high-gain, low-noise integrated C+L band optical fibre amplifiers, sharing YOFC's thinking and practice in the shift from from technology-driven to application-driven and demonstrating deep insight into the industrialization path of hollow-core fibre.

During the conference, YOFC's State Key Laboratory of Optical Fibre and Cable Manufacture Technology partnered with renowned research institutions and universities in China and abroad—including China Telecom Research Institute, Nokia Bell Labs, Guangdong University of Technology, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, and Peking University—to jointly publish 14 high-quality papers, including three published with YOFC as the first-affiliated institution and one PDP (Post-Deadline Paper), covering frontier international research directions in optical communications such as hollow-core fibres, space-division multiplexing (SDM) fibres, optical fibre amplifiers, and fibre transmission experiments, showcasing YOFC's latest technology R&D achievements to the global optical communication academic community.

YOFC has published papers and delivered invited talks at leading international academic conferences such as ECOC, the Optical Fiber Communication Conference (OFC), and the Asia Communications and Photonics Conference (ACP) for consecutive years, demonstrating industry-leading academic strength and innovation capability. Looking ahead, YOFC will continue to deepen international academic exchange and industrial cooperation, promote the large-scale application of frontier technologies through open innovation, and contribute more YOFC insights to the advancement of global optical communication technology.
