On November 2, OFCMT hosted two international seminars on specialized topics: "R&D and Application of Communication Systems Based on New Optical Fibre" and "Key Technologies and Application for Long-Distance, High-Capacity Submarine Optical Fiber Networks". A total of 16 invited presentations were delivered by experts from China Telecom, China Mobile, Huawei, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU), Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Sun Yat-sen University, Southwest Jiaotong University, and Pengcheng Laboratory. Together, the experts delved into the R&D and applications of new optical fibre communication systems and the cutting-edge technologies for long-haul, high-capacity oceanic optical networks, sharing the latest industry trends and technological breakthroughs. Zhang Lei, Chief Scientist at OFCMT, and Luo Jun, Technical Director of Submarine Cable at YOFC, delivered keynote speeches titled "The R&D Progress of YOFC on Next Generation Optical Fibres and Relative Devices" and "Specialty Fibres and Cables and Their Application in Integrated Fibre-Optic Communication and Sensing Networks Under Water", respectively. They highlighted the latest advancements, product performance, and advantages of YOFC’s solutions such as hollow-core fibres, marine communication, and sensing cable. These seminars were co-chaired by Professor Lv Chao from PolyU; Xiong Liangming, Executive Deputy Director at OFCMT; Li Junjie, Deputy Director at OFCMT, Chief Expert in Optical Transmission at China Telecom, and Vice President at China Telecom Research Institute; and Huo Xiaoli, Director of the Transmission Network Research Center at China Telecom Research Institute.
