On November 15, 2013, the 3rd meeting of the 1st Council of the Optical Fibre Materials Industry Innovation Alliance (OFMIIA) took place in Fuyang, Zhejiang Province. Present were leaders and representatives of the chairman Yangtze Optical Fibre and Cable Company Ltd. (YOFC), the vice chairman Futong Group Co., Ltd. (Futong), as well as 12 members like FibreHome Technologies Group Co., Ltd. (FibreHome) and Fasten Group Co., Ltd. Li Xinnan, inspector of the Department of Policy, Regulations and Reform of the Ministry of Science and Technology; and Xie Linzhen, vice chairman of the China Mobile Communication Association were invited for instruction.

Founded in March 2010, OFMIIA now has 16 members, with YOFC President Dr. Zhuang Dan as chairman and Yuan Tong, secretary-general of the China Electronics Materials Industry Association as secretary-general.

On behalf of OFMIIA Chairman, Luo Jie, technical director of YOFC, made a summary of the alliance's work in 2013. With focus on the alliance's efforts to promote upstream and downstream cooperation in the industry, seek difficulties of enterprises' generic technologies and continue promoting and perfecting the alliance operation mechanism, the report elaborated on the technical advancement of industrial development, the implementation and progress of key surveys, technological researches, technical exchanges and "863" projects undertaken by the alliance, as well as member cooperation. Also, the report arranged the alliance's key tasks for 2014.

At the meeting, Li and Xie delivered keynote speeches entitled Build the Strategic Alliance on Industrial Technology Innovation, Sharpen Core Industrial Competitiveness and Mobile Internet: The First Disruptive Technology of the Human Society in the Coming Two Decades respectively. Yang Junyong, senior engineer of Futong; Shen Yichun, general manager of Zhongtian Precise Materials Co., Ltd. and Dr. Chen Wei, R & D manager of FibreHome made technical presentations. The meeting also looked into industrial concerns such as actualities and development trends of ultra-low-loss fibre, development of detection equipment of large-size optical fibre performs and implementation of development projects.

The meeting decided to add Jiangsu Zhongtian Technology Co., Ltd. and Jiangsu Hengtong Optic-Electric Co., Ltd. as OFMIIA's new members and Tang Changwei, senior engineer of YOFC R & D Centre as deputy secretary-general.
