Products

YOFC is the only company in the world that has independently developed three methods for manufacturing optical fibre preform, namely PCVD, VAD, and OVD, and achieved mass production respectively.
Product Characteristics
  • Dimension: YOFC is one of the main suppliers of preforms in the world with different categories like G.652 and G.657 preforms and dimensions as follows:
    Diameter Length
    Typical 150/180/200mm 1500mm~3000mm
    Customized 80mm~190mm 1000mm~3000mm
  • Quality: high efficiency and output ratio, customized dimension, low attenuation, and uniform MFD and dispersion properties.
  • Service: YOFC always provides technical support to help customers to optimize the utilization ratio of preform by decades of manufacturing experiences in the industry.
  • Plasma Chemical Vapor Deposition(PCVD)
PCVD is a plasma chemical vapor deposition process, where microwave is used to excite raw-material gas inside quartz substrate tube into plasma state, then chemical vapor deposition proceeds to form a homogeneous transparent glass layer on the inner wall of the tube, and eventually the tube with depositions is collapsed into a solid core rod through heating and negative pressure. PCVD has inherent advantages such as the precision control and high raw material utilization with regard to optical fibre preforms, and thus is more suitable for the production of core rods for optical fibre preforms with complex RI profile and higher technical requirements.

  • Vapor Axial Deposition(VAD)
VAD is a vapor axial deposition process, where oxyhydrogen flame is used as the heat source to transform raw-material gas into glass powder, then the powder is dehydrated and sintered at high temperature to obtain a uniform, transparent master core rod, and eventually VAD core rod in proper size is formed through heating and stretching. Due to its high deposition rate and flexible doping control, VAD is superior in producing core rods for single-mode optical fibre preforms with simple RI profile.

  • Outside Vapor Deposition(OVD)
OVD is an outside vapor deposition process similar to VAD. In OVD process, oxyhydrogen flame is used as the heat source to transform raw-material gas into glass powder, then the powder is dehydrated and sintered at high temperature to obtain uniform, transparent quartz rods. OVD has a very high deposition rate, but the doping control is complicated. It is mostly used to deposit undoped optical fibre preform cladding or high-purity quartz materials.

  • Preform Fibre Drawing
Fibre drawing is a process where an optical fibre preform is drawn into a quartz fibre with a diameter of only 0.125 mm at a temperature above 2000 ℃, and then an optical fibre with a diameter of 0.25 mm that is covered with plastic coating is formed through such steps as annealing, cooling, coating, curing, twisting, and winding. In production, an optical fibre preform can be continuously drawn for 2 to 3 days, as a result of which a 10,000km-long optical fibre can be produced.
