Today, the China Intelligent Manufacturing Practice Summit Forum with the theme of “Made in China 2025+Internet Intelligent Manufacturing Across China: Getting to Know Wuhan Manufacturing Industry”, co-organized by China Association of Communication Enterprises, China Communications Industry Association, Internet of Things Application Branch, and Wuhan Enterprise Information Association, was ceremoniously opened in Wuhan.
At present, the revolutionary breakthroughs, interaction and synthesis of information technology, new energy, new materials, among other key fields and forefront areas have brought profound transformation to global manufacturing models, organizational modes of production and industrial morphology, which represent both challenges and opportunities to the manufacturing industry in China. In order to consolidate China’s status as manufacturing powerhouse, the State Council unveiled its first 10-year national plan for transforming China's manufacturing, entitled "Made in China 2025" and designated intelligent manufacturing as the principal path. Hence, Ministry of Industry and Information Technology decided to implement from 2015 the “Special Initiative of Intelligent Manufacturing Pilot”. Following the schedule of the special initiative, a list of 46 intelligent manufacturing pilot projects was confirmed and announced on July 2, 2015. Among them, the “optical fibre intelligent manufacturing pilot” of Yangtze Optical Fibre and Cable Joint Stock Limited Company (ticker symbol: 6869.HK, hereinafter referred to as YOFC) is the only project in the optical fibre and cable industry, as well as the only Wuhan-based intelligent manufacturing pilot project.
This time, intelligent manufacturing experts and gurus all over China and leadership of Wuhan manufacturing enterprises gathered in YOFC to visit the company and exchange ideas, with a view to building a high-level platform for communication and cooperation among players of intelligent manufacturing, creating an intelligent manufacturing strategic alliance, constructing cooperation platform, promoting the progress of intelligent manufacturing building, advocating best-practices in intelligent manufacturing and discussing “Made in China 2025”.
The party was received by the vice president of YOFC, Mr. Yan Changkun. Mr. Yan expressed sincere welcome to the delegation and introduced the company’s history of development. Then, as the key topic speech section of the China Intelligent Manufacturing Practice Summit Forum, YOFC manufacturing center equipment department manager Lu Songtao made a speech titled “Intelligent Manufacturing Process of Optical Fibre” and pointed out that in the past 10 years Chinese optical fibre industry had been making steady progress and ridded itself of the dependence on export. However, there is still room for improvement. Besides, the optical fibre industry has reached a turning point: if it previously was driven by the vast Chinese market and rich human resources, with the structural changes of human resources in China today, production line manufacturing also needs restructuring and a scientific technical system is a must. Getting listed as intelligent manufacturing pilot is both a positive affirmation of and a spur to YOFC. The company has made a 3-5 year plan for intelligent manufacturing, and will continue to increase input into research and development, comprehensively enhance the equipment efficiency through the technological platform of YOFC’s optical fibre and cable production technology national key lab, and strengthen the integration of automation and informatization; it will also improve the intelligent level of manufacturing, build intelligent factories, construct a package of optical fibre and cable intelligent factory solutions, based on its national intelligent manufacturing pilot platform status, in order to motivate the progression of Chinese optical fibre and cable industry from “Made in China” to “Intelligent Making in China”.
