The 16th OPTINET CHINA was grandly held in Beijing from June 15 to June 16. Doctor Wang Honghai, the general manager assistant from R&D center of Yangtze Optical Fibre and Cable Joint Stock Limited Company (“YOFC”) (stock code: 6869.HK), and Doctor Deng Tao, the vice general manager of Shenzhen YOFC Connectivity Technologies Co., Ltd. made a special report on two topics at the meeting, “application of single mode fibre with ultra-low attenuation in next-generation optical network” and “application of pre-terminated fibre optic cable system in rapid deployment of FTTx”. For the next-generation optical network, from the application scenarios of long-distance backbone network to that of MAN and AN, YOFC launches three new optical fibre products: Yuanbei® ultra-strong large-effective-area fibre with ultra-low attenuation, Quanbei® ultra-strong and ultra-low-loss single-mode optical fibre and Yibei® +Mini 200μm small-outer-diameter single-mode fibre with bend insensitivity. Low attenuation and large effective area are the main development trend of single-mode communication fibre, and the new optical fibre products of YOFC lead the trend and provide optical fibre solutions to present network and future fibre transmission network of 400Gb/s and above; now FTTH network construction is in full swing and the voice for rapid deployment and convenient construction have been growing in network construction, while residential network is required to be artistic. Pre-terminated optical cable wiring solution is the preferred alternative of FTTH construction due to its rapid construction and good performance as well as indoor artistic wiring of invisible cable and it will play a more and more important role in subsequent FTTH construction.

Director of China Telecom Science and Technology Committee Mr. Wei Leping came in person to YOFC stand to guide work. Doctor Wang reported the progress YOFC has made in R & D and test of new optical fibers in a detailed way and Director Wei made a deep communication with Doctor Wang about attenuation, effective area, fusion loss, operator cooperation project and other problems of new products with great interest. When learning that YOFC has cooperated with China Unicom in two projects with its ultra-low-attenuation and large-effective-area optical fibre, which is under final test in trunk line project by cooperating with relevant operators and expected to be commercialized at the end of the year, Director Wei specially pointed out that, optical fibre with low attenuation is of great importance in speed increase and fee reduction of broadband in future and highly affirmed the achievements made by YOFC now. Guests present also showed great interest in it and a flow of visitors came to YOFC stand for consultation.

OPTINET CHINA was hosted by Optical Communication Board of China Institute of Communications, Transmission and Access Experts Consulting Group of Communications Science and Technology Committee of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. Experts and scholars of optical communication and optical access from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, telecom operators, equipment suppliers and cable manufacturers, etc. attended the meeting and nearly 40 experienced professionals in the industry came to make speeches. During the meeting, guests from three Chinese operators, Huawei and ZTE, etc. made deep discussion about 40G/100G/400G, SDN/NFV, ultra-broadband transmission network, data center interconnectivity, FTTH and other topics and predicted the development trend of applying optical fibre in backbone network and access network.
