YOFC Is Invited to Attend China-Canada Collaboration Forum

On May 15, 2017, the Sixth China-Canada (Ontario) Research & Innovative Collaboration Forum co-hosted by Consulate-general of China,Toronto and the Ontario Ministry of Research and Innovation was held in Toronto. Consul general of China in Toronto He Wei, Ontario's Minister of Research and Innovation Reza Morindi, director-general of Department of S&T for Social Development under Ministry of Science and Technology Wu Yuanbin, around 500 delegates from relevant government departments, universities, scientific research institutions, innovative businesses and investment organizations attended the event. State Key Laboratory of Yangtze Optical Fibre and Cable Joint Stock Limited Company (hereinafter referred to as "YOFC", stock code: 6869.HK) was invited to attend the forum. At the venue of China-Canada B2B sci-tech and industry cooperation exchange, YOFC and the delegates took part in the matchmaking activities of new materials and their photoelectric application technology projects. 



Meanwhile, YOFC and other delegations were also invited to participate in “Discovery” large-scale new technical achievement exhibition activity hosted by  Ontario Centre of Excellence (OCE). On May 16, Xiong Liangming, deputy executive director of YOFC State Key Laboratory was invited to participate in “Discovery” Panel Discussion for showcasing the new and hi-tech achievements, made a speech themed “Understanding Market Opportunities in China”, focusing on publicity and recommendation of industrial development and technical innovation conditions of YOFC, State Key Laboratory and the location Wuhan, Hubei, actively advocating the strengthening of bilateral technology and industry exchange and pushing forward the innovative collaboration. The relevant introduction and observation has aroused the enthusiastic attention of the delegates. After the event, YOFC and the delegates were also invited to University of Toronto for technical investigation and cooperative exchange, with focus on investigation of new type photoelectric material and its application technologies and start-up projects; reached a consensus on establishment of a collaborative innovation mechanism between YOFC State Key Laboratory and Photoelectric Material and Application Laboratory of University of Toronto and signed a relevant agreement. 

Before the China-Canada Research and Innovative Collaboration Forum,  Science and Technology Counselor of Consulate-general of China, Toronto Mr. Shen Jianlei received the delegation of YOFC, warmly encouraging YOFC to go abroad, pay close attention to the development trend and model of North America in science and technology, research development trend of benchmark enterprises, actively carry out international scientific and technological collaboration and innovation activities, welcoming it to establish a joint innovation mechanism and industrial cooperation with universities and start-up businesses of Canada. Moreover, it highly appreciated YOFC in responding to the state's initiative and carrying out key industrial distribution and strategic moves in the countries or regions along "the Belt and the Road". 

After the China-Canada Research and Innovative Collaboration Forum, Luo Jie, technical director of YOFC & director of YOFC State Key Laboratory guided relevant teams to interview Professor Bao, an academician of National Research Council of Canada and Professor Chen (both from University of Ottawa) in Wuhan. Both sides conducted an in-depth discussion on design of new type optical fibre, new application of special optical fibre and incubation of products and technologies etc. and reached a preliminary consensus on the technical cooperation of the next step. Recently, the research team of University of Ottawa led by Academician Bao designed and developed a series of Brillouin random lasers, with the relevant research achievements published in Optics Letters (Vol.42, No.4:739-742, 2017), Optics Express (Vol.25, No.10:11306-11314, 2017) and other international famous academic journals.
