In the morning of October 19 (China Beijing Time), Yangtze Optical Fibre and Cable Joint Stock Limited Company (hereinafter referred to as "YOFC"; stock code: 601869.SH, 06869.HK) was granted the "EFQM Global Excellence Award 2018" by European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM) at the award ceremony held at the Hofburg Palace in Vienna of Austria. Only 8 enterprises around the world have won this award this year and YOFC has been the first winner in China since the establishment of the European Quality Award. Jan Bongaerts, YOFC's Vice President, and Niu Guohui, General Manager Assistant from Operations Management Center, attended the ceremony and received the award on behalf of the company.

EFQM Global Excellence Award, one of the three major Government Quality Awards in the world

The European Quality Award, now referred to as the EFQM Excellence Award, is highly prestigious as one of the three major Government Quality Awards in the world. It is co-sponsored by the European Commission, the European Organization for Quality (EOQ) and EFQM, and has been issued annually since 1992. The award is equally famous as the American Baldrige National Quality Award and the Japan Edward Deming Prize. It is given to recognize the enterprises in Europe and around the global that have demonstrated their commitments to excellent quality, to help them pursue excellence and continuous improvement, and enable them to finally serve as leaders among their counterparts.

The EFQM Global Excellence Award evaluates applicants systematically according to the EFQM Excellence Model. The assessors are either foreign executives with rich management experience or technical experts in the industry. The award is only presented to the companies with the best management and excellent performance as recognized. The winner must have set an example in Europe or even worldwide in terms of quality measures and business performance.

YOFC has gone through data review and one-week on-site review during the application stage. The seven foreign assessors were unanimously positive about YOFC's management advantages in six aspects, including technological innovation management, customer relation management, leadership in international standards, talent fostering, social responsibility, and high performance. YOFC won the world's top honor with a total score of over 600 points upon the review of the Committee of Experts of the EFQM Global Excellence Award.

The "EFQM Global Excellence Award 2018" marks the continuous endeavor of YOFC after winning the 17th National Quality Award in 2017. It indicates that YOFC has been in line with world-leading enterprises in terms of management level.
