Recently, the fellow of the Royal Society and the Royal Academy of Engineering of U.K., Knight David N. Payne, the fellow of the Royal Academy of Canada, BAO Xiaoyi, and the "Thousand Talent Program" expert, Prof. HE Zuyuan subsequent visited State Key Laboratory of Optical Fibre and Cable Manufacture Technology (hereinafter referred to as SKLOFCMT), and Yangtze Optical Fibre & Cable Company Limited (stock code: 6869.HK, hereinafter referred to as "YOFC") and director of the SKLOFCMT, Doc. LUO Jie received the visiting experts and had technical exchanges and discussion cooperation with them.

Knight David N.Payne was surprised at YOFC's achievements on researches into such technologies as perform, optical fibre and cable, special optical fibre, equipment, application of optical fibre and series study, especially in terms of the industrialization of technical achievements; and he asked, with interests, questions about the technical indicators and application status of the products. Doc. LUO Jie and the general manager of YOFC's R&D center, WANG Ruichun had discussed with Knight Payne on wide and deep cooperation. Having visited SKLOFCMT and Wuhan for several times, Knight Payne thought Wuhan East Lake High-Tech Development Zone was in fact a larger version of Southampton in the U.K. in terms of electronic information, and was very willing to carry out, on behalf of the ORC of University of Southampton, more diversified cooperation with YOFC and SKLOFCMT.

During her visit to YOFC, the fellow of the Royal Academy of Canada and professor of University of Ottawa, BAO Xiaoyi gave an academic report titled Fibre Sensing Technologies, sharing her breakthrough on the cutting-edge technology of fibre sensing, technical innovation and research experience. Director LUO Jie, together with the fibre sensing team from SKLOFCMT and YOFC's specialty product division received and had technical exchange with fellow Bao, and had discussed with her about the cooperation on the new generation fibre technologies. Bao's visit was supported by the Consulate-General of the People's Republic of China in Toronto.

On the same day, the "Thousand Talent Program" expert, professor of Shanghai Jiaotong University and director of State Key Lab of Advanced Optical Communication Systems and Networks, HE Zuyuan visited the SKLOFCMT. In addition to technical exchange, Professor He together with his colleagues also carried out practical and deep cooperation on a special state research and development project with YOFC, and the general manager of YOFC's specialty product division, Tong Weijun attended the reception and exchange.

SKLOFCMT is by far the only SKL of optimal fibre and cable set at an enterprise and is a research institute that has the conditions and capacities to carry out technology study on perform, fibre, special fibre, fibre application, optical cable, optical distribution node (ODN) and cabling system, preform-fibre-cable core device, comprehensive testing of optical fibre and cable and special testing. Relying on YOFC, the lab is the R&D and manufacturing base for optical fibre & cable products as well as manufacturing equipment that has the most complete products, most advanced manufacturing technologies and the largest manufacturing scales in China, and is therefore very influential in this industry.

Being visited by renowned experts from both home and abroad during the 50th anniversary of the invention of the optical fibre and the discussed strategic cooperation, showed the position of YOFC and SKLOFCMT in the optical fibre and cable industry. YOFC and SKLOFCMT, representing the new strength of the optical fibre and cable technology in China, are moving forward steadily and rapidly towards the goal of leading the technologies in this industry.
